For information about the Texas Waiting List Lawsuit Settlement, go to www.thearcoftexas.org. As of January 1, 2008, approximately 100,231 Texans with disabilities are on the waiting lists! The unduplicated count is 84,428. It is important to note that of those waiting for services, approximately 54,378 are waiting for the HCS and CLASS Medicaid Waiver Programs--programs for individuals with primary diagnoses of intellectual and developmental disabilities, respectively. The Arc of Texas is currently working with other community advocates to create a statewide, uniform campaign to end the waiting lists. We hope to have a comprehensive website and e-list soon!
